Để đáp ứng nhu cầu tìm hiểu những thông tin khái quát và cập nhật về Việt Nam của bạn đọc trong và ngoài nước, tiếp theo cuốn sách Việt Nam thường niên 2016, Cục thông tin đối ngoại (Bộ thông tin và Truyền thông) đã tổ chức biên soạn cuốn sách Việt Nam thường niên 2017.

Over thousands of years of national building and defense, the Vietnamese people have made untold sacrifices to gain the fundamental human rights, namely the right to live in independence and freedom, the right to food, clothing, housing,  education and dignity. In the Declaration of Independence of September 2nd, 1945, giving birth to the independent and free State of Vietnam, President Ho Chi Minh proclaimed that “All the nations on the earth are equal from birth, all the nations have a right to live, to be happy and free.”

The book entitled “Land Border Between Vietnam and China” is aimed at providing the readers with an outline of the- process of negotiations in a move to reach the signing in late l999 of the Treaty on Land B order between Vietnam and China and the process of completing in late 2008 the planting of the border milestones along the whole length of the border line.

Tín ngưỡng, tôn giáo là nhu cầu tinh thần của một bộ phận nhân dân, đang và sẽ tồn tại cùng dân tộc Việt Nam trong quá trình xây dựng đất nước Việt Nam dân chủ, văn minh, hiện đại, giàu mạnh và tươi đẹp. Để đảm bảo quyền tự do tín ngưỡng, tôn giáo, theo hoặc không theo một tôn giáo nào của công dân, đồng thời tăng cường hiệu lực, hiệu quả quản lý Nhà nước đối với tôn giáo, Hiến pháp nước Việt Nam mới ngay từ những năm đầu của nước Việt Nam Dân Chủ Cộng Hòa đã xác định rõ quyền này.

Một trong những học giả nổi tiếng, bà Monique Chemillier - gendreau, Giáo sư công pháp và khoa học chính trị ở trường Đai học Paris - VII - Denis Diderot, nguyên Chủ tịch Hội luật gia dân chủ Pháp, hiện là chủ tịch hội luật gia châu Âu, đã viết cuốn sách nhan đề: “Chủ quyền trên hai quần đảo Hoàng Sa và Trường Sa”. Cuốn sách đã được nhà xuất bản L’Harmattan Paris (Pháp) công bố vào tháng 3/ 1996. Cuốn sách là một công trình nghiên cứu khoa học nghiêm túc và độc lập của một học giả nước ngoài. Trong đó, dưới góc độ luật gia quốc tế, tác giả đã phân tích lập luận của các bên liên quan đến cuộc tranh chấp hai quần đảo, và đưa ra những giải pháp cho vấn đề tranh chấp phức tạp này dựa vào cơ chế giải quyết tranh chấp luật quốc tế và đặc biệt là của Công ước của Liên Hiệp Quốc về luật biển năm 1982.
